Gulliver is one Hugues Caullet, who resides in a small village in rural eastern France. He is a songwriter par excellence, a one-man band who has been described as a Gallic White Town, or a French Momus.
'The Chocolate Album' Download-only album (Pickled Egg Records Egg 27) "Like Momus, Gulliver understands that trash can be fun if dressed up and delivered with style" [John Cavanagh, BBC Radio Scotland] This debut album was originally scheduled for release in 2001, but a lack of funds sadly put this on the back-burner. We're now making this available - for the time being, at least - as a download-only release, though it's possible that it may yet see the light some day on CD. 'Humalayo' 7" EP (Egg 11) Gulliver might be described as a kind of Gallic White Town or French Momus, offering up a set of poetic, largely synth-based melancholy pop songs, seemingly about loves old and new, lost and found, actual and desired, lasting and ephemeral, pure and even tainted ...and all sung beautifully in French. "Poetry meets melody on a Casio Keyboard" [Record Collector ] "Gulliver might be a genius of high songwriting. 'Humalayo' climbs melodic mountains" [Magic!] 'a l'imparfait' (MP3) |
